Bravo+ Award Guidance and Form
Nomination Process
- When nominating someone for a Bravo Award, the nominator should do the following:
- Use the Bravo+ Award Nomination Form. All nominations must be submitting using the online form.
- Electronically complete Section 1: Nominee Information on the Bravo+ Award Nomination Form.
- Please ensure the category selected is correct. Please ensure the description matches the category and explains in full detail the reason for the nomination. Categories include: Moving the University Forward, Operational Excellence, Innovation/Creativity or Fiscal Stewardship. Descriptions of these four categories include the following:
- Moving the University Forward: Accomplishments or contributions that transform or advance University objectives (e.g. initiatives that improve graduation rates, development of programs to measure student academic knowledge, enhancing the academic excellence of the University, improving student affordability, etc.)
- Operational Excellence: Extraordinary effort during times of critical department need (e.g. contribution that clearly and significantly exceeds standard job requirements and impacts the accomplishments of important and critical business operational goals and deliverables or extraordinary performance that far exceeds expected or required performance. Managers must be able to document specific achievements and/or measurable contributions to the unit’s business based upon the employee’s exceptional performance).
- Innovation/Creativity: Innovative work or suggestions, well beyond standard job requirements, that significantly improve operational efficiencies, introduce a new or modified business practice or improve work process, workflow or customer service.
- Fiscal Stewardship: Significant cost saving or cost avoidance realized beyond normally expected or established standards.
- Please ensure the category selected is correct. Please ensure the description matches the category and explains in full detail the reason for the nomination. Categories include: Moving the University Forward, Operational Excellence, Innovation/Creativity or Fiscal Stewardship. Descriptions of these four categories include the following:
- Please mark a suggested award amount the nominee should receive. Options include $500, $1,000, $1,500 or $2,000. All award amounts over $1,500 will require approval from the appropriate executive leadership member as follows:
- Administrative Services – Kim Pearson
- Auxiliary Services – Rob Wynkoop
- Facilities Operations and Environmental Health and Safety – Ryan Gallagher
- Physical Facilities and Public Safety – Jay Wasson
- After the form is completed, save the form to a computer as a PDF.
- Email the PDF to aoadmins@purdue.edu.
- AO assistants will ensure the Bravo+ Award nominee is eligible and route the form forward for necessary approvals using DocuSign. Supervisors, senior leaders (AO's top 30 leaders) and the Administrative Operations Business Office (AOBO) will confirm the Bravo+ Award Nomination Form meets the eligibility requirements, which include the following:
- Employee has at least 3 months of service
- Employee has no outstanding disciplinary actions
- Employee must be in active employment status at time award is paid out
- Employee can not receive more than four awards per fiscal year
- The following employee groups are NOT eligible for a Bravo+ Award:
- Executive officers and upper-level management positions (department heads, associate/assistant vice presidents, associate/assistant provosts and directors who report to a vice president)
- Student employees, graduate staff and temporary staff
- Visiting faculty and limited term lecturers
- Postdoctoral, resident or intern appointments
- Employees who have a specific employment contract with the university that links additional compensation to their performance
- If the Bravo+ Award Nomination is approved, an email will be sent from aoadmins@purdue.edu to the following recipients:
- Bravo+ Award winner’s supervisor and the Bravo+ Award winner’s senior leadership member (from their area) announcing their employee’s Bravo+ Award amount and pay date. The email will also include the approved Bravo+ Nomination Form.
- Bravo+ Award nominator
- A Bravo+ Award certificate will be sent to the Bravo+ Award winner’s supervisor via campus mail for distribution to the employee.
Recognition Event
All submissions for the fiscal year must be submitted by May 31, 2024.
A fiscal year Bravo+ Award celebration will take place after the end of the fiscal year, typically in July. An invitation and RSVP link will be sent to all the fiscal year winners, supervisors and nominators.
