Boilerfest New Student Orientation

Boilerfest is an introduction to the Black Cultural Center, various student organizations, campus support services, faculty, administrators and community groups. Boilerfest is an enjoyable event filled with music, live entertainment, food and fun that also features performances by BCC Performing Arts Ensembles.
Mother of the Dark Water

Black Madonnas have been challenging the normative view of Christianity for more than eight hundred years by depicting Mary and Jesus with dark skin. In Mother of the Dark Water, five modern-day black women are inspired by original images of the Black Madonna to challenge the forces in the normative feminist movement that seek to silence their voices and mask their identity.

Global Fest celebrates our diverse community and world cultures through music, dance, crafts and international food. Free performances by Séamus Egan Project and Orquesta El Macabeo.
Enjoy and explore world cultures through music, dance, crafts, displays, and international food. Continuous stage entertainment, cultural displays, and children’s activities are among the free activities. New to the festival this year—the inclusion of the 43rd International Food Bazaar, featuring delicacies from all around the world. The beer garden opens at 5pm.
A Conversation with Tarana Burke

Tarana Burke, 2017 TIME Person Of The Year, shares the story behind her creation of the viral #MeToo movement and gives strength as well as healing to those who have experienced sexual trauma and/or harassment. Tarana’s powerful story ignited an international movement that inspires solidarity and amplifies the voices of thousands of survivors and advocates.

Ouibache Music Festival: Featuring the BCC's Black Voices of Inspiration
Saturday, September 29 - 12:00 pm – Tippacanoe County Ampitheater
The inaugural music festival will celebrate "American Roots Music". Roots music is a broad category of music including Bluegrass, Gospel, Old Time, Celtic, Jug Band, Blues, Appalachian Folk, Cajun and Native American. Stage shows will feature local, regional, national, and international acts. Music, demonstrations, dancing and all sorts of fun will be going on throughout the festival. There is something for everyone. It's all about the music.

Fall Break Cultural Immersion Tour
Fri - Tues, October 5 - 9 - Memphis TN
The Immersion Experience will be a 5 day domestic excusion to learn about the Civil Rights Movement from a contemporary perspective. During the Immersion Experience, you will have the opportunity to spend time with local experts, vist cultural and historical sites and build community through facilitated discussion.

The Colored Museum

An exploration of African-American culture and experiences in a satirical trip through time. The Colored Museum has electrified, discomforted and delighted audiences of all colors, redefining our ideas of what it means to be Black in contemporary America. The eleve "exhibits" performed undermine Black stereotypes old na dnew and return to the facts of what being Black means.
CHICAGO: A Cultural Tour of the Windy City
Saturday - Sunday, October 20-21
Visit the Dusable Museum and the Bronzeville community. Founded in 1961 the DuSable Museum preserves and interprets experiences and achievements of people of African descent. The Bronzeville community was second only to Harlem in providing Black cultural gifts to America and the world.
