September 29, noon – 1 p.m. ET Jessica McKeever, registered dietitian at the Center for Healthy Living, will cover various dimensions of wellness for those entering retirement. Topics include nutrition, strength training, smoking/alcohol use, regular doctor visits, leisure activities and cognitive health.

One to One Strong is a 4-week group coaching program designed to teach the fundamentals of resistance training and guide you as you create individualized resistance training program that is realistic, manageable, and will contribute to your overall health and fitness goals. Each class will include both an educational and active component.
Leveraging Pharmacy Resources October 9, noon – 1 p.m. ET |
Join Trexie Rudd, clinical pharmacist at the Center for Healthy Living (CHL) on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, from noon to 1 p.m. on October 9 as she discusses how individuals can maximize the benefits available to them via pharmacies.
During the “Leveraging Pharmacy Resources” workshop, Rudd will discuss the following topics:
- Using copay cards to help with prescription costs
- Immunizations
- Getting blood pressure checks at pharmacies
- Asking pharmacists about over-the-counter (OTC) medication drug interactions
- CHL- and PUP-specific details

We all are compassionate people, yet we tend to exclude ourselves from our own circle of care. And that has consequences as far as our happiness and how we affect those around us. Research shows that cultivating self-compassion can help with stress and burnout and enhance well-being. And it’s not that hard to do. Jon Walker is a retired physician that found these practices extremely helpful and now devotes himself to offering trainings on the subject. In this session we’ll explore what self-compassion is and why it is so hard to be kind to ourselves. We’ll then do some foundational practices designed to cultivate self-compassion even in the midst of difficulties.

You can’t manage what you don’t measure, which is why knowing your risk is critical to preventing disease. And knowing your risk starts with knowing your numbers. This presentation will help you understand the numbers associated with Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Blood Sugar and Body Mass. Health coaches will show participants how to interpret their Healthy Boiler physical results and how you can positively affect your numbers.
