Scholarship of Engagement Fellows Program

The purpose of the Scholarship of Engagement Fellows Program is to foster the development of the scholarship of engagement among faculty throughout the Purdue system in support of the promotion and/or tenure process. Twelve faculty members at the rank of assistant or associate professor from the West Lafayette, Purdue Northwest, and Purdue Fort Wayne campuses will be chosen to participate in this program designed to span the 2023-2024 academic calendar year.  Faculty in the tenure track or clinical track are invited to apply.

Scholarship of Engagement Fellows work with a panel of senior faculty mentors from the Purdue system who have a history of successful engaged scholarship. This program will focus on: (1) understanding the scholarship of engagement; (2) documenting impact; and (3) evaluating impact. Fellows receive direct feedback from mentors on their promotion document, based on scholarship of engagement. Fellows also receive a stipend of $1,500 to be used for activities related to the expectations below.

Expectations

Fellows will develop their scholarly engagement portfolio during the fellowship. Fellows will:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the scholarship of engagement through completion of a scholarly work
  • Attend four 2-hour workshops in person and participate in the annual Engagement and Service-Learning Summit in spring 2024
