Learning Communities Available to Students in the College of Engineering
Students entering First-Year Engineering are required to complete online tasks prior to registering for fall classes; you will receive directions for completing the tasks from First-Year Engineering. Some of the information from these tasks is used for initial math placement. Performance on an online math assessment may impact a student's eligibility for other courses which may be part of a learning community. You should apply for the learning communities that interest you and discuss learning community placement with an advisor during STAR, the summer orientation and registration program.
Bands and Orchestras - Engineering
The First-Year Engineering Bands and Orchestra - Engineering learning community is open to all first-year band and orchestra students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering.
Engineering in the World of Data
Dive into the world of Big Data. Gain a foundation in data science skills while working to solve real engineering problems.
EPICS
The Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) learning community places first-semester students in the award-winning EPICS program to design engineering-based solutions for some of the most pressing needs of the local community.
Global Engineering
At Purdue, our Global Engineering learning community welcomes first-year engineering students who want to develop leadership skills in the context of an increasingly interconnected and rapidly changing world.
IDEAS
Get involved in a hands-on outreach project with an inner-city high school group from Indianapolis. Make an impact in your first semester to help inspire the next generation of engineers as we learn more about our own views and the views of others through class discussions and an outreach project with students from Indianapolis.
Minority Engineering Program Learning Community
An engineering learning community with multiple tracks, to foster the success of underrepresented engineering students
The Data Mine - Vertically Integrated Projects
Students in this cohort of The Data Mine work in multidisciplinary teams of students to engage in research-based projects.
Vertically Integrated Projects
Engage with students (undergraduate and graduate) in extended research and design projects. This is a great way to kick off your Engineering studies at Purdue.
Women in Engineering
The Women in Engineering Program invites you to apply to participate in a diverse community of first-year engineering students.
