1) Influencer Culture: Discovery Heritage Identity through Social Media by Brittany Chan (Founder and Creator of Cantonese with Brittany)

Brittany Chan is a social media content creator exploring her heritage language and culture through the lens of a second generation Hong Kong Canadian girl.
Purdue Krannert alum (BS Econ '14) turned NYC fashion designer turned Youtuber, Brittany will be speaking about what it was like to navigate cultural and family expectations, balancing Eastern & Western cultures and ultimately embarking on the journey of self-love and self-acceptance
2) Dr. Fredy González (Associate Professor, Global Asian Studies and History, University of Illinois, Chicago)

In collaboration with the Latino Cultural Center, the AAARCC is hosting Dr. Fredy González, Associate Professor of Global Asian Studies and History at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. González will lecture on the topic: "Chinese Mexicans and Mexicanidad." In this talk, Dr. González will give a brief history of Chinese immigration to Mexico during the twentieth century and illustrate some of the ways the Chinese contributed to and claimed belonging to the Mexican nation. Despite experiencing consistent hate and harassment from anti-Chinese activists who claimed that the Chinese would never fit into the Mexican nation, some migrants found ways to survive and set down roots in their new country.
3) Dr. Claire Jean Kim (Professor, Political Science and Asian American Studies, University of California Irvine)

In collaboration with the Black Cultural Center, the AAARCC is hosting Dr. Claire Jean Kim, Professor of Political Science and Asian American Studies at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Kim will lecture about the intersectional experiences of Black and Asian communities of the United States.
4) Dr. Mimi Thi Nguyen (Chair and Associate Professor, Women and Gender Studies and Asian American Studies, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign)

In collaboration with the Purdue Libraries, the AAARCC is hosting Dr. Todd Honma, Associate Professor of Asian American Studies, at Pitzer College who will be leading a lecture and a workshop on the topic of Zines and its use in activism.
5) Dr. Jenny Wang (Psychologist and Author, Permission to Come Home: Reclaiming Mental Health as Asian Americans)
Date & Time: Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 6:00 PM ET
Location: Lawson 1142
Dr. Jenny Wang is an author of Permission to Come Home: Reclaiming Mental Health as Asian Americans. She is also a Houston-based licensed psychologist who offers individual psychotherapy within a compassionate, client-centered, and non-judgmental framework. Dr. Wang works from a social justice and intersectional framework focused on understanding the impact of racial trauma and racial identity on mental health.

II) Express Fest 2022 (Collaboration with LCC and NAECC)

Join us for this year’s Express Fest! This open house and resource fair puts students on the fast track to connecting with campus resources and student organizations at Purdue University. Join us for live performances, food, lawn games, and tours of the AAARCC, LCC, and the NAECC.
III) AAARCC Student Leadership Summit
Date & Time: Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM ET
Location: WALC 1087
This summit is planned for student organization presidents (or Vice President Externals) who are interested in building networks with each other while learning about resources on campus to grow as an organization.
IV) NAECC and AAARCC Friendsgiving
Date/Time: Monday, November 21, 2022 at Lunch Time
Location: NAECC (903 5th Street)
You are invited to celebrate friendship and drop by the AAARCC as we celebrate Friendsgiving with the NAECC. We will have food, beverages, and activities for participants to enjoy.
V) De-Stress Week of Events
Date/Time: December 5 - 9, 2022
Location: AAARCC (915 5th Street)
As we near the end of the semester, take a moment to drop by the AAARCC and de-stress from studying for finals. Each day will feature a different activity and opportunity to hang out with friends.
