Overview of Benefits

The University provides a variety of benefit offerings to meet the varying needs of the workforce. This section provides a brief summary of the benefits available to faculty and staff in benefit-eligible positions. More detail is provided through the Benefits website at www.purdue.edu/hr/benefits or by contacting Human Resources, Customer Service at the West Lafayette campus or the human resources offices at the regional campuses. 

Same-sex domestic partners will be deemed “spouses” for purposes of Purdue spousal benefits, pursuant to the Board of Trustees’ September 2002 resolution, which granted benefits to same-sex domestic partners. Any references to “spouse” in this benefits information can be assumed to apply to same-sex domestic partners. 

Note: Based on the June 2015 ruling by the United States Supreme Court to recognize same-sex marriage in all 50 states as a matter of constitutional law, Purdue will discontinue benefits to same-sex domestic partners of University employees effective January 1, 2017.
