Flu shots are important for children, too
The Center for Healthy Living on Purdue University’s West Lafayette and Hammond campuses can help protect your child(ren) from the flu. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months should get a flu vaccine every season. Free, seasonal flu vaccines are only offered to dependents covered on benefits-eligible Purdue employees’ health plans.
The Center for Healthy Living has pediatric flu vaccines available at the centers' during normal business hours (West Lafayette and Hammond) Monday through Friday. Walk-ins are welcome! Employees are asked to bring their PUID with them to the appointment.
Vaccine information
The CHL will be administering the Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine which is designed to protect against four different flu viruses; two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses and is approved for anyone ages 6 months and older. Additionally, the Flublok Quadrivalent vaccine – which is egg free and is approved for use in people 18 years and older – will be available.
If an alternative vaccine type is needed, employees are encouraged to see their providers.
