Programs

Fraternity, Sorority and Cooperative Leadership Institute

Purdue University has created a custom designed curriculum in collaboration with RISE Partnerships to offer a multi-day leadership development experience for members of the fraternity, sorority and cooperative community. The institute will challenge students to think about the systems that are present, and ways to improve the community. Through small and large group discussions, and activities students will develop a plan of how they will create change in their organizations and community. This event takes place the week after finals in the spring semester.

Fraternity, Sorority & Cooperative Leadership Summit

The Fraternity, Sorority, and Cooperative Leadership Summit (FSCLS) is a student-run leadership conference that takes place in West Lafayette on the first Sunday of November each year. Fraternity and sorority members from Purdue University and other institutions around the state of Indiana have the opportunity to listen to well-renowned speakers and participate in interactive breakout sessions to enhance their leadership skills and learn about issues affecting the fraternity and sorority community. FSCLS challenges fraternity and sorority members to honor the legacy of their founders and to move forward to a bright future.

CPLA

The Council officers and chapter President Leadership Advance (CPLA) is an overnight retreat for all fraternity and sorority council officers, and chapter presidents taking place in January every year. This is an opportunity for chapter presidents and council officers to develop leadership skills, set goals, and get to know other leaders in the fraternity and sorority community.

Cooperative Housing Leadership Conference

This day long conference provides training for positional leaders in the Cooperative Housing Community. The conference is held in the spring semester following formal recruitment.

Officer Training

This program offers positional leaders the opportunity to enhance their skills and learn best practices for their individual roles in their organizations.

RESPECT Initiative

The RESPECT Initiative is focused on powerful women’s leadership at both the local and global level; to critically examine the traditional paradigms of how gender, power, prestige, sexuality, and education intersect at an American university and beyond. The programs serve as an outlet for women to explore their leadership potential, connect with other women, and learn how they can make a difference as college educated individuals. In the second phase of the initiative, men are encouraged to explore the ways they shape the current campus and global contexts, and are invited to explore their identities and concepts of manhood.

Cooperative Housing New Member Education Night

Each fall, the new members from all 12 cooperative houses come together to learn about the expectations of the community, and network with other students from across the community. This program offers information and resources on a variety of topics including risk management, and hazing prevention.

New Member Orientation

All fraternity and sorority new members attend New Member Orientation the semester they join their organization. New Member Orientation provides education on hazing prevention, personal responsibility, and creating a positive values based experience for all members.

The Health and Safety Initiative

Each semester, the fraternity, sorority and cooperative community collaborates with offices across campus to be able to offer educational programs on hazing prevention, responsible alcohol use, and risk management. This week of programs incorporates the spirit of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week and National Hazing Prevention Week.

Safer Sex Week

Each spring, the fraternity, sorority and cooperative community collaborates with offices across campus and other student organizations to be able to offer education around healthy sexual practices.
