The Purdue Express: A Transformative Recruitment Initiative Targeting African American Undergraduates

PI: Renee Thomas

The Purdue Black Cultural Center in partnership with the Office of Admissions plans to develop a performance-based touring company to recruit underrepresented minorities to matriculate to Purdue University. The "Purdue Express" variety show will provide audience members an overview of the history of Purdue, academic majors, student organizations, campus life, cultural centers, famous alumni and other pertinent information integral to the recruitment of students. The production will include dancing, singing, monologues and other theatrical forms in a high impact presentation. Purdue students representing various disciplines will be represented.

Team members: Mitch Warren and Ja’Niah Downing, Office of Admissions; Joel Ebarb, College of Liberal Arts
