Contraceptives & Birth Control
There are many options when it comes to contraceptives and birth control. They come in different forms, work in different ways, and vary in availability and effectiveness.
- Hormonal birth control options do not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
- Do not use oil based lubricants with latex condoms, as the the oil based lubricant can cause the condom to break down and tear.
- Never use two condoms at the same time. This includes "doubling up" on male condoms, or using an external and internal condom together. This creates an increased risk of tearing one or both condoms.

Sexually Transmitted Infections
- Some STIs are asymptomatic, meaning that they show no noticeable symptoms. This means you can carry the disease and be unaware of it.
- Get tested once every six months if you are sexually active. If you change partners frequently, it is recommended you get tested after each new partner.
