Speakers Bureau
The Purdue LGBTQ Center manages the the Speakers Bureau program which consists of LGBTQIA+ and ally students, staff, and faculty who use the power of their own stories to educate and bring awareness to the experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community. Members participate in panel discussions in classrooms, trainings, and other spaces by request. Simply answering questions openly and honestly, panelists can break down stereotypes, build safer spaces on and off campus, and promote dialogue around challenging ideas.
Speakers Bureau members:
- Develop their public speaking skills
- Learn more about LGBTQIA+ identities
- Use their voices to educate
The Speakers Bureau consists of approximately 25 members, but we are always looking for more members!
How It Works
Members can participate whenever their schedule permits. Each time the LGBTQ Center receives a request for a panel, the LGBTQ Center sends an email to members to ask who is available to participate at the specified date and time.
Participants are not required to speak on a minimum number of panels to maintain their membership in the Speakers Bureau program. Members can participate as much or as little as they like.
