Time Management App: Shovel

Shovel is a real-time college planner app that Purdue is offering free to all students; it can help you to schedule your time effectively with less stress. Ever have the sinking feeling that you don't have enough time for an assignment? Or when three midterms in a week catch you completely off guard? With Shovel you can enter your course requirements, co-curricular commitments, and/or employment hours--and be able to balance your time so that you also schedule downtime and breaks.  Shovel is a tool that can assist you in creating structure to your days , and avoid the risk of sitting in front of your computer for long stretches of time. You can access your free Shovel account by following this link and using your purdue.edu email to sign-up. 

Chemistry Resource Room

The Chemistry Resource Room (CRR) provides free tutoring for students taking General and Organic Chemistry. In addition to a staff of tutors (graduate and undergraduate students who have taken the courses), the CRR has reference books, model kits, information on private tutors, and a place for group study. It is located in the Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry (WTHR) Room 117b.Check the CRR website (link below) for hours.

Writing Lab

The Purdue Writing Lab offers many different services for students including one-on-one tutorials and general writing workshops. We can consult on ideas and first drafts in addition to helping writers revise and edit documents based on feedback from instructors and advisors. We also teach strategies for improving sentence-level writing. To make an appointment, visit  owl.purdue.edu  for more information or to schedule an appointment (click on "Writing Lab" in the top menu and then "Schedule a tutoring appointment").

The Purdue Presentation Center is available for both virtual and in-person appointments. Students can register for an appointment using BoilerConnect. Virtual appointments will receive an email with a link to the virtual meeting room prior to appointment time.

The Purdue Library is an amazing resource that students can access in-person and online. If you haven’t learned how to navigate the library system via online, there are many resources in place to help. First, we’d recommend viewing the Purdue Library Tutorials. Supplemental Instruction - ASC

The Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program offers peer-led, collaborative learning and study sessions in traditionally challenging courses.  More information about SI-supported courses and the session schedules are available on our website and via a Brightspace page with information on how to participate in SI sessions for their course(s).

Biology Resource Center

COSINE (College of Science Instructional Nightly Enrichment)

COSINE (College of Science Instructional Nightly Enrichment) is a free tutoring program to help students succeed in first year science courses in math, biology, and chemistry.  Visit in-person in the University Residences Support Center in Shreve Hall or online through Zoom. For more information and a link to the online sessions, visit the COSINE website. Sessions will begin during the 2nd week of classes.

Women in Engineering and Science Tutoring Program (WiE-WISP Tutoring)

The WiE-WISP Tutoring Program provides free homework and study support for 100 and 200 level Math, Science, and Engineering courses. This semester, WiE-WISP is offering in-person and online support. In-person tutoring is held Sunday through Thursday from 7:00-10:00 PM  in the University Residences Support Center in Shreve Hall. Online tutoring is also held Sunday through Thursday 7:00-10:00 PM Eastern Time; visit  https://bit.ly/WiE-WISP-PU to sign in and receive a link to the online session. Sessions will begin Sunday, August 28 (fall) and Tuesday, January 17 (spring).

Toolkit for Online Students

Purdue Online has a digital toolkit for students taking online classes, whether fully online or hybrid. The toolkit has topics related to success in online courses, including organization, communication, study habits, working with groups, tools, and support. Visit the Innovative Learning site to explore this resource (and more) as you navigate online classes.

Remember that your faculty and teaching assistants are also  available to support you and your learning. Check your course's Brightspace page for more information on resources such as office hours, discussion boards, online review sessions, or other resources such as a course sites.
