Healthy Boiler workshop to address grief, stress during holidays — additional resources available Many things can impact mental health, including grief, and it can become even more difficult and stressful during the holiday season. On Dec. 14 Melissa Covarrubias, behavioral health counselor at the Center for Healthy Living on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, will present a Healthy Boiler workshop titled “Grief and Stress During the Holidays.”

Purdue drafts guidance on AI use in teaching and learning Artificial intelligence continues to emerge as a powerful tool for education. Purdue is committed to being at the forefront of translating research to practice and extending the frontiers of excellence in teaching and learning. To that end, Purdue’s Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning has issued draft guidance for instructors on the use of AI in Purdue courses and learning environments for spring 2024, with input since summer from University Senate leadership, the Ad Hoc Committee on AI, the Center for Instructional Excellence, and the Innovation Hub.

Paul Ryder story

Changing course

It's fortunate for Purdue students that Paul Ryder's early career plans took off in an unexpected direction and included a layover in Krannert's Executive MBA program.

As vice president for Amazon, Ryder helped the company land on campus with Amazon@Purdue. That's the company's first-ever staffed order and drop-off location. It's designed to save students money.

But Ryder also offers students something just as valuable — the perspective of an engineer whose career path transitioned into business and a position running the consumer electronics division of Amazon.

"I thought I had died and gone to heaven," he says.
